According to a new report conducted for the Los Angeles times, California’s $21.3 billion deficit may just be the perfect excuse for those who wish to see another large increase in cigarette taxes. In June, in the aftermath of the states battle with one of the worst financial situations in living memory, California’s law makers will consider raising cigarette taxes by a further $1.50 per pack in an effort to raise in excess of $1.2 billion annually.
